Week 4

I really don't know what to write. My brain is boggled with trying to study and memorize a lot of information.  I did have a good blog for this week, but I think I will hold off for next week when I'm not so stressed.

I did see something cool on my sunflowers,  I saw a bee covered in pollen. Bees transport the pollen from the flower to the hive by using the third set of legs. Bees are very important to our ecosystems.

Week 3

We've been talking about salt, water, and molarity lately. While we've been talking about that, I was thinking about how salt dissolves slugs. The salt causes osmolarity in the slug which causes the slug to dehydrate and shrivels it up. The slug is majorility made up of water.
Osmosis which we learned brings things from high water concentration to low water concentration which causes water to absorb from things. I always thought that this was a cool process when I was a kid. I would always go out in the rain to find slugs just to "melt" them. Some say its a cruel way to kill a slug, but its very educational to me to see the process of the salt sucking all the water from the slug and leaving nothing left.

Week 2

I have been trying to figure out what I could write about because I am not very good at these things. So I am going to write a place that I discovered last year that I thought was really cool and now I am a frequent visitior there.
Last year when I was going to get cat food at PetSmart in Federal Way I saw a frozen yogurt place called SubZero and decided to try it out. This first thing that I saw when I walked in was a huge metal containet of liquid nitrogen and wondered what they used that for. So when I went to order my yogurt it was in a liquid form. After I ordered my flavor and ingredients I wanted in it, they then froze my yogurt with the liquid nitrogen to the consistency that I wanted. As they were freezing it there were a lot of little bubbles of liquid nitrogen floating on the counter.  It was just the coolest thing I ever saw.
So I really don't have much else to write. So I'm gonna end here and get ready to sleep.

Introduction

My name is Mariko.  I am recently separated from Active Army and now am currently in the Reserves. I live in Auburn with my boyfriend. As a person I am too caring to a fault and very stubborn and hard headed. I lack patience and am very much an A type personality. I am taking this class as a pre-req for the Medical Assistant program. There really is nothing that interests me in biology but it is something that I need for my program. I suspect everything in this class will be hard for me. I have never done well in sciences, and expect the quizzes to be harder since I am mostly use to True/False multiple choice questions since I really don't have very good attention span and memory. But I will try my best to at least pass this class. Aiming for a 2.0. We'll see what happens.
